The red planet is revealed. The United Arab Emirates’ “Hope” probe sent its first image of Mars, days after successfully entering orbit, the national space agency said on Sunday (February 14th). “The Emirates Mars Mission captured the image of the largest volcano in the solar system, Olympus Mons, emerging in the early morning sunlight.”, she said in a statement.
The transmission of the Hope Probe’s first image of Mars is a defining moment in our history and marks the UAE joining advanced nations involved in space exploration. We hope this mission will lead to new discoveries about Mars which will benefit humanity. pic.twitter.com/TCM5yHTapH

The probe of the first Arab interplanetary mission entered orbit around Mars on Tuesday. The take-off of this unmanned spacecraft took place in July from the Tanegashima space center (southwest of Japan), after two postponements due to bad weather.
The probe will remain in orbit for a whole Martian year, or 687 days. This mission is to study the atmosphere of Mars to “provide a first full understanding” of its climatic variations over an entire year, according to Sarah al-Amiri, former deputy head of the project and now UAE Minister of Advanced Technologies and president of the country’s space agency.
