Back with a new album, Earthman, the singer hopes to associate him with a concert tour from December 2021.
The main trait of your character?
The one you’re the least proud of?
I sometimes take a long time to make decisions.
The one you hate in other people?
Your anti-stress thing?
The more time passes, the more I am at peace. But if the stress rises, reading relaxes me.
The book that accompanies you?
For the past few months, I haven’t let go of Ken Follett, who I read in English. I really like his historical novels, and I will undoubtedly follow up on his thrillers.
Your green gesture?
I have had a boat for twenty years and have cleaned a lot of beaches. It is, alas, a never-ending task.
On a desert island, what would you take with you?
Music, books and a Swiss Army knife.
Casting for an ideal dinner at your place?
Nelson Mandela, Stevie Wonder, Ken Follett, William Boyd et Sting.
What gift do you often give?
Cooking for others. I was already a leader in the scouts. And apart from Miou-Miou, who liked to cook as a couple, I have always been in charge of shopping and cooking.
A meeting that marked you?
Music, which decided my life and came to me through two women. My mother-in-law listened to classical music and put me on the piano; my mother introduced me to jazz and song. I owe them my eclecticism.
What direction have you given to your new album (1)?
The direction is always driven by the authors: I compose the majority of the songs on the texts, on the piano. I worked with Didier Barbelivien, Carla Bruni, Bernard Lavilliers, Jeanne Cherhal or Clara Luciani, who signed My refuge, the title already released… Many have offered me songs on the issues of our society: ecology, depression, violence against women… Bruno Guglielmi wrote Earthman, which gives its name to the album and sums it up quite well by asking this question: what is it to be an earthling today?
My boat. With him, I offered myself dreams and a certain idea of freedom.
Your favorite TV series?
The Crown and The Wire.
A city that looks like you?
Paris, where I was born and have lived a large part of my life, London, which I love passionately, and Bodrum, Turkey, where I spent a lot of time when I was sailing.
Your Madeleine de Proust?
Fish court bouillon, a Guadeloupe dish that my grandfather used to cook for me.
(1) Earthling, Play Two. Released February 12.
